This Week in Sandpoint

Spooky time in Sandpoint? There's plenty of Halloween fun around Sandpoint and Ponderay on Thurs, Oct. 31, with trick-or-treating at Alpine Vista Senior Apartments, and haunted hay rides at Luther Park, both starting midafternoon. Families can also enjoy the Candy Walk at the Cedar Street Bridge or trunk-or-treats at Sandpoint Church of God and the Sandpoint Lions Club, while The Pond Ice Rink in Ponderay hosts a Spooky Costume Skate and Trunk or Treat. That night, adults can celebrate with costume parties and live music at Matchwood Brewing, The Hive, Eichardt's, Roxy's, and the 219 Lounge. Also on Fri, Lake Pend Oreille Repertory Theater presents Arsenic and Old Lace at the Panida Theater, a witty dark comedy of family, murder, and mayhem running through Nov. 2. The weekend wraps up Sun, Nov. 2, with the Sandpoint Nordic Club's Winter Welcome at Pine Street Woods, a relaxed afternoon of games, refreshments, and community connection.

Nest squatters! Local osprey returned from winter migrations... but found geese occupying their Memorial Field nest. The osprey pair built a new nest in the lighting arrays on the field. The geese have left; the osprey can be sighted only occasionally
