The Sandpoint Winter Carnival: Fire & Ice Sandpoint's 53rd annual Winter Carnival wraps up this week, so don't miss the events happening around town and at Schweitzer.

Annual Heart Ball The Bonner General Health Foundation's annual Heart Ball will be held at the Bonner County Fairgrounds, 4203 N. Boyer Ave. Get tickets at: Bonnergeneral.org/foundation/heart-ball/. The cause of the evening will be the advancement of critical upgrades within their Surgical Services department. A key focus is the replacement of the current surgery air handler with a modern, state-of-the-art system. This upgrade will improve environmental controls in the operating rooms, address humidity challenges, and enhance patient safety while positioning the surgical suites for future growth and emerging technologies. Proceeds will go toward supporting this program. This event will be held on Saturday, February 21 from 5:00 to 11:00 p.m. The evenings theme is "Through the Looking Glass" and dress for the event is cocktail attire.

21 Comedy Avalanche. Phillip Kopczynski presents Comedy Avalanche, a night of stand up comedy returning to the Panida Theater for one night only on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 8:00 p.m., with doors opening one hour before the show. This PG-13 event features headlining comedian Brittany Lyseng, an established Canadian performer newly cleared to work in the U.S., who began her comedy career after 12 years as a tradeswoman with the goal of lifting less and laughing more; she has been featured on Kevin Hart's LOL Network and is the winner of the 2024 Seattle International Comedy Competition. Seating is general admission, tickets are sold through the Panida Theater, and will also be available at the door.
21 Annual Heart Ball. The Bonner General Health Foundation's annual Heart Ball will be held at the Bonner County Fairgrounds, 4203 N. A swing bed is a service rural hospitals provide allowing a patient to transition from Acute Care to Skilled Nursing Facility Care without leaving the hospital. 22 Winter Carnival: Eichardt's K9 Keg Pull. It's the final, and a favorite event of the Winter Carnival week! Dogs and their owners race down a snowy course on Cedar Street in front of Eichardt's Pub. Dogs pull kegs appropriate to their size - for a St. Bernard, that's a full-size keg, but for a chihuahua it's a beer can - as they race the clock for best time and prizes. The day is a fundraiser for the Better Together Animal Alliance pet shelter. Explore this enchanting garden as it comes to life with Mary Lennox, Colin Craven and a host of others on Saturday, February 28th as the Missoula Children's Theatre and Northside Elementary students present an original musical adaptation of The Secret Garden at Northside Elementary School with shows at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. This production is part of the Missoula Children's Theatre's unique international touring project and is presented locally by the Northside PTO with generous grant support from the Idaho Community Foundation. Filmmakers from around the world are invited to submit their work through FilmFreeway in categories such as Documentary and Narrative Features and Shorts, Untamed Features and Shorts, Made in Idaho, Green Horizons / Voices for Change, Love Out Loud, Animation, Experimental, Past Forward, The Next Wave, and Youth Works. The festival offers discounted submission fees for students and FilmFreeway Gold members to encourage emerging and underrepresented voices. 6-7 The Follies. The Angels Over Sandpoint celebrate 21 years with its annual raunchy variety show, returning to the stage for two nights at 8 p.m. Enjoy a two-hour, R-rated show packed with irreverent performances and over-the-top entertainment. This adults-only fundraiser invites the community to laugh out loud while supporting Angels Over Sandpoint's mission of helping those in need. And this year is something special, with "a farewell to the Queen" as longtime Mistress of Ceremonies Kate McAlister retires from the stage ... with select words and observations, no doubt! Doors open one hour before the show, with a limited number of $50 VIP tickets available each night offering early entry at 6:30 p.m. (regular doors open time is 7 p.m.) This show is not for the easily offended. 14 Pend Oreille Bay Hiking Tour with Steve Gill. Ready for a deep dive into local history? Join environmental historian Steve Gill for a 4-mile morning hike along the Pend Oreille Bay Trail. From the Humbird Lumber Mill to the Panhandle Smelting and Refining Company, you'll see the shoreline's history revealed by the low water levels. This hike takes place rain or shine, from City Beach to Black Rock and back. Tickets are capped at 30 participants, so watch for the ticket release and get yours before they're gone.
14 Far and Away. Join at the Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave. for an early St. Paddy's day with a classic Irish romance film. During the hour between doors and the start of the movie, there will be a local saxophone quartet, playing some Irish tunes for your entertainment! Joseph (Tom Cruise) and his landlord's daughter, Shannon (Nicole Kidman), travel from Ireland to America in hopes of claiming free land in Oklahoma. The pair get sidetracked in Boston, where Joseph takes up boxing to support himself. When he loses a pivotal fight, the two are left penniless. Now faced with poverty, the two must find new ways to scrape by. As their affection for each other grows, Joseph questions whether he is truly what Shannon needs in her life.
