Residents respond to 'Imagine Sandpoint!'
Survey first of four to determine the future residents envision

The results are in from the first Imagine Sandpoint! survey, an attempt by the Sandpoint Gem Community planning team to discover what citizens value about the city's physical environment.

Survey forms were distributed at various locations around town and via the Internet for more than two months. Gem team members said about 800 surveys were returned.

The Imagine Sandpoint! survey included 32 questions quizzing residents for their preferences and ideas on a wide range of topics related to the physical design and appearance of Sandpoint. Topics included Sandpoint's housing, streets, landscaping, architectural design, and others.

The team also held a town meeting on Jan. 19 at Community Hall, with about 60 people showing up to give ideas and discuss the future.

So what did all those people have to say? To see the complete results, and demographic information about who turned in surveys, follow the links below. Note: Key to responses is as follows: 1 = "Strongly Agree," 2 = "Agree," 3 = "Don't Care," 4 = "Disagree," 5 = "Strongly Disagree."

Despite the healthy response, the survey effort is just begun. Gem team members plan more surveys on other questions the community will face as it build its future. Three more polls are planned, to focus on topic about the economic, leadership and social environments of Sandpoint.
